Karawatha Park pleased with top price

The team at Karawatha Park welcomed buyers and friends from across the state to Buckleboo for the 23rd annual on-property ram sale last month.

A total of 150 rams went under the hammer in the Karawatha woolshed, with a 100 per cent clearance rate.

The top-selling ram of the day was bought by Glenville Merino Stud at Cowell, with a strong price of $6000.

“Our flock this year again stepped up in ASBVs (Australian Sheep Breeding Values), particularly in traits we have been targeting over time, and it’s really pleasing to see our effort and attention paying off,” Karawatha’s Dion Woolford said.

“It’s good to see our theory working in practice, and that consistent trait improvement can be made over time, while keeping the sheep as we like them structurally and visually – a great recipe for a productive and easy-care animal.”

Friends from near and far took the opportunity to catch up over a famous Karawatha meat pie.
