The Ceduna community celebrated the life of a former resident last Friday afternoon.
A longtime resident of the town, Lorraine Retsas passed away in November 2025.
Ceduna RSL Sub-Branch, of which Lorraine was a member for decades, hosted the memorial.
Family and friends gathered to hear stories of Lorraine’s life, her family and her achievements.
Born in Denmark, Western Australia, she met her future husband, Johnny Retsas, during a visit to Thevenard, and the couple married in 1973.
She had three children and six grandchildren, and away from her work Lorraine was an active member of the community.
She was a proud member of the RSL sub-branch, among other groups.
Lorraine spent most of her last three years in WA, but the avid knitter continued to create toys for Flair on Eyre, family and special orders.
About 40 people were present at the celebration of her life.
Ceduna RSL Sub-Branch president Dave Walker paid tribute to Lorraine.
“She was a member for decades and a very proud member, who wore her grandfather and father’s medals,” he said.
“She was a very likeable lady.
“It [was] an unbelievable turnout, which shows respect for Lorraine and the family.”
