Big crowd attends strawberry fete

More than 200 people attended the Smoky Bay strawberry fete and market day on Sunday, 11 January.

Smoky Bay Community Club president Leeanne “Twig” Holmes said in addition to the stalls the Western Eyre Vintage Car Club had about 20 vehicles on display at the oval.

“Thanks to all the stall holders and the car club for making this day so successful,” Twig said.

“Thanks to those who donated some food items for this event.”

She said the community club welcomed feedback or suggestions on how to back next year’s event even better.

“The money that we make goes towards the community club for upgrades,” she said.

“We would like to thank the wonderful community members, committee members that helped with the strawberry fete/market day.

“Your amazing efforts are truly appreciated.”

In addition to the stalls the community club itself was kept busy with meal orders to cater for the hundreds of people there.

“We did 110 whiting wraps all up, nearly 50 hamburgers and 5 kilograms of hot dogs.”
