LeBrun effort recognised

Dion LeBrun has officially been awarded citizen of the year, as remarkable locals are set be honored at this year’s Tumby Bay District Council Australia Day Awards.

The annual awards recognize those who have gone above and beyond to enrich the social fabric of the district, with Mayor Churchett noting that the entire region thrives thanks to the selflessness of these individuals and groups.

“Everyone in our district is the beneficiary of the contributions that the award recipients make for our community, making it a great place to live, work and play,” Mr Churchett said.

Mr LeBrun, who has been named 2026 Citizen of the Year is being recognised for his outstanding service to the region.

He is joined by Young Citizen of the Year Georgia Stratford and Senior Citizen of the Year Elizabeth Dodd, both recognized for their significant impact within their respective generations.

The Active Citizen of the Year Award will be presented to Ross Hudson, while the Tumby Bay and Districts Lions Club Christmas Pageant has earned the title of Community Event of the Year.

Additionally, the Ungarra Community Cafe will be recognized with a Certificate of Achievement for its valuable contribution to local life.

The community has been invited to gather and celebrate these achievements on Monday, 26 January, at the Tumby Bay Foreshore Lawns. The morning will begin with a community breakfast served from 7.30am, providing a chance for residents to mingle before the formal proceedings.

The official awards presentation and citizenship ceremonies will follow the breakfast.

The event serves as a premier opportunity for the district to stand together and offer public thanks to those who dedicate their time and energy to making Tumby Bay a better place for everyone.
