Cowell to hold gala day

Cowell Area School students are gearing up for a gala day at the school on Friday 21 November.

Teacher Hannah Owens said this year’s event would mark the first full scale gala day held at the school since before Covid, although a half-day event was held two years ago.

“It has been six years since we held a proper gala day,” she said.

“Each class is doing a stall and we have reached out to some external organisations to come in.

“Some classrooms will be open with displays.”

Activities will include bubble soccer and sponge throwing, and products such as snow cones and cupcakes will be offered for sale.

Cowell Lions Club will cook a barbecue and the Brew Buggy will have its beverages for sale.

The gala day will run from 10.30am until 2.30pm, with proceeds going to increasing the amount of shade and outdoor furniture at the school.
