Fifth Tuesday outing

Port Lincoln Ladies Probus Club will meet for the fifth Tuesday on September 30 at Puckridge Park for a picnic lunch at 11am. Bring your own lunch and hot or cold drinks, and a chair if possible.

Bird club AGM

Southern Eyre Bird Club will host its annual general meeting at 7pm on Wednesday, October 1 at the Port Lincoln Senior Citizens Hall. The guest presenter is Dr Diane Colombelli-Negrel, a senior lecturer in animal behaviour. Her research includes how prenatal experience shapes postnatal cognition and behavioural fitness in birds. All are welcome to attend – it is going to be an excellent presentation.

Ceduna Oysterfest

Ceduna Oysterfest is a two-day feast celebrating the West Coast’s famous oysters, plus so much more, on the Ceduna foreshore, on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5. Entertainment, live music, kids’ activities and a fireworks display are highlights of the weekend.

Musical night

Port Lincoln’s Cellar Folk Club will gather at 7.30pm on Saturday, October 4 for live music, sing-a-longs, poetry, stories and free fun. Everybody is welcome – performers and non-performers – at the Baptist Church Cafe, 7 Ravendale Road. Bring some cash for a raffle and munchies for the supper break.

Roses in the Ocean

Ceduna Community Wellbeing welcomes you to attend its third Roses in the Ocean gathering, on Sunday, October 5 at 10am at the entrance of the Ceduna jetty. Roses will be supplied. For further information, contact 0408 300 063.

Cowell Lions markets

Cowell Lions’ Main Street Markets for this season are scheduled for upcoming Sundays on October 5, November 2, December 7, January 4, February 1, in March to coincide with annual pyrotechnics display and April 5.

Hall celebration

Port Neill War Memorial Hall is turning 100 and to mark the occasion there will be an open day on Sunday, October 5 from 10am to 4pm. Pop in for a look at the photo displays or stay for the day and catch up with friends. There will be morning and afternoon tea, plus a sausage sizzle for lunch. A Taste of the Bay

Venus Bay Licensed General Store will host the third edition of A Taste of the Bay on Sunday, October 5 from 1pm. The event will include a selection of entree tastings showcasing the great seafood the bay has to offer. There will also be live music. For bookings, contact 8625 5075.

Port Kenny time capsule

The Port Kenny time capsule laid in 1988 will be opened at a special community gathering on Sunday, October 5 at the Port Kenny and District’s Sports Centre, uncovering memories and mementos from the past. The event will run from noon until late – everyone is welcome, with lunch and dinner available to buy. EFTPOS and bar facilities will be available. The time capsule will be opened at 2.30pm. Yallunda Flat Show

Finish the long weekend on Monday, October 6 at the Yallunda Flat Showgrounds, where you will enjoy activities prioritising the country experience and lifestyle – including shearing, horse events and live music.

Cummins Show and Ag Fair

A fixture on the Cummins calendar for more than 100 years, the Cummins Showgrounds will host equestrian events, pavilion competitions and plenty of machinery to keep you enthused at the Cummins Show and Ag Fair on Saturday, October 11. Activities for the youngsters are also a hit.

Border Dash

Register now for the 35th annual Border Dash on Saturday, October 11. The iconic 13-kilometre run starts in Western Australia and crosses into South Australia to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service. After the dash, stick around for a barbecue and charity auction. Cleve Show

The Cleve Show on Saturday, October 18 is the final Eyre Peninsula show of the season, where kids can enjoy the fun activities and games on offer and adults can see all the staples of a country show.

Rodeo by the Sea

Streaky Bay will host the bulls, broncs and barrels once again at the popular Rodeo by the Sea event on Saturday, October 18 at Streaky Bay Racecourse. Gates open at 1pm and the main event starts at 4pm. The event is fully catered, with live music, retail vendors and free camping. Early bird tickets are online at rodeobythesea.com.au

CarnEVIL

Gardner’s Vineyard at North Shields will host the Halloween-themed CarnEVIL on Friday, October 31. Gates will open at 3pm for the Candy and Clowns Kidzone and Freaky Funhouse Marquee Maze, with a kids costume competition at 5.30pm. From 8pm the scares intensify with an R18+ late-night horror maze experience running until late. All funds raised will support Ronald McDonald House.
