Sheringa couple Michael and Jennifer Wandel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Kappawanta Station on Saturday, August 2.
They were married on August 2, 1975 at St John’s Lutheran Church, in Unley, followed by their wedding reception at Glen Osmond Golf Club.
After they married and had their honeymoon, they moved to Eyre Peninsula to start their married life together and run Kappawanta Station, 19 kilometres north of Sheringa.
Later when Kappawanta Station was sold they moved to Lambing Station where they brought up their five children.
They slowly expanded the station by buying land around them and still currently live and work on the farm.
After 40 years, at the end of 2024, they were able to buy Kappawanta Station back.
It was very fitting to have their golden wedding anniversary at Kappawanta Station – where they first started out.
