Branch leadership decided at AGM

Leadership of the Ceduna branch of South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) will remain the same after the recent annual general meeting.

The branch hosted its AGM in the Anglican Church hall on Tuesday, July 8.

President Jenny Skinner welcomed seven members and one visitor – Sharon Cowle of Mount Hope.

Members were asked to have a minute’s silence for dear member Doreen Denton, then the creed was recited.

Jenny gave the president’s report, while Judy Gregory explained there was a delay for the treasurer’s report and it would be presented at the August meeting, and Claire Collins gave the handicraft report.

Jenny was retained as the branch president for 2025-26 and Kath Dunn the vice president, as well as reporter.

Claire remains the secretary, with Annette Moyse the new assistant secretary.

Judy will remain the treasurer and Claire is now the assistant treasurer.

Claire is also the handicraft officer and will be assisted by Elaine Kloock.

Winners of the monthly competitions for the past 12 months were announced.

Jenny was the bloom champion with 86 points, ahead of Annette on 58 points and Elaine on 57.

Elaine was named the handicraft champion on 78 points, with Kath on 59 points and Annette on 48.

The general meeting for July then followed, where it was announced that craft will be on the third and fourth Tuesdays.

The branch will assist in helping with care bags for palliative care, having been asked by Ceduna Hospital and Village Auxiliary.

If anybody has spare wool they can donate for the ladies to make blankets to go with the bags, please get in touch.

Suggestions were put forward for this year’s program for meetings.

The roll call for this month was your favourite soup.

The Ceduna branch will host its 92nd birthday in the Anglican Church hall on Tuesday, August 12 – meet at 11.30am.

Lunch will be ordered and shared, then the meeting to follow.

The SACWA Far Western Group will host its next meeting at the Streaky Bay RSL Hall on Thursday, August 14 at noon.

The monthly competitions saw Kath, Judy, Annette and Jenny all finish on 10 points in the bloom category.

Claire, Kath, Elaine and Annette were all awarded 10 points in the craft competition.

Afternoon tea and a catch-up ended a great day.
