Region’s best snappers awarded

Following an extremely successful week-long exhibition at Streaky Bay Visitor Centre, the Eyre Peninsula Camera Club Association clubs met for a weekend of catching up with like-minded people.

The exhibition featured more than 300 images, highlighting the range of photographic talent that is quietly ‘painting with light’ – the meaning of the word ‘photography’ – across Eyre Peninsula.

There were five categories on display – open section, nature, people, scapes, and the rolling category, which changes every year, framed.

The response from the public was nothing short of amazing with the people’s choice, one for each category, proving to be a very popular activity with the visitors.

It took the team more than two hours to count up the nominations, with one or two images level pegging for the honour.

As hosts for the association picnic this year, the Far West Camera Club team would like to thank the people who work at the Streaky Bay Visitor Centre for their ever-ready willingness to help with the organisation, emergency printing and very timely and valuable information.

The club would also like to thank Streaky Bay District Council for the use of the exhibition space and for delivering and setting up the fencing to hold the images.

Appreciation and thanks must also go to ArtsUp Streaky Bay for its loan of their image hanging equipment.

The club also thanks both Drift Cafe and Streaky Bay Hotel for their magnificent meals, friendly and timely service.
