Stallholders welcome for Port Neill market

The Port Neill War Memorial Hall committee is holding an Easter Market to raise funds for the upkeep of the hall, which will soon be celebrating its 100th birthday.

The market will run on Easter Saturday – April 19 – from 9am to 1pm.

South Australian Country Women’s Association Port Neill branch will have a trading table, the hall committee will be selling sausages and slushies, while Under the Pines will have its merchandise for sale.

The committee said it would love to have a coffee van be involved in the market, while popular items at past markets include plants, flowers, baked goods, craft and books.

Anyone interested in having a stall please contact Lou McDonough on 0447 122 721.

The cost for having a stall is $30 inside the hall & $20 outside.

The hall committee are also planning the hall’s 100-year celebration.

One idea discussed was to have a fashion parade of wedding dresses belonging to those who held their wedding receptions at the Port Neill War Memorial Hall.

The parade would be followed by a basket supper and dancing.

If you held your wedding reception at the hall and still have your wedding dress, or know someone who does, please get in contact with Lou.

The land for the hall was allocated in 1925 and construction started that year.

It opened in 1926 and was initially known as the Carrow Memorial Hall.
