Young Maggie organises Clean Up

Nine-year-old Maggie Nagel was the driving force behind the Cleve Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday.

Forty people took part, collecting 16 bags of rubbish and four bags of recycling at the Cleve Sporting Bodies grounds.

Young Maggie decided she wanted to organise the event in January and worked with Cleve District Council, Cleve Sporting Bodies, local businesses and some other Cleve youngsters to make it happen.

The clean-up had a festive feel about it with music by Gemma and Ava Leonard and craft, snack and coffee stalls.

It was a fun day out for the whole family, with a supportive response from the community to lend a hand towards Maggie’s initiative for the environment.

She thanked the community for supporting the community and nature by picking up rubbish and not littering.
