Artists inspires others

Port Lincoln artist Sandy Harder inspired those attending a winter workshop weekend in Kimba on June 22 and 23.

Workshop26 hosted the event with participants having the opportunity to learn techniques for three different art techniques.

They included a printmaking technique called dry-point intaglio, painting and mixed media.

Participant Heather Baldock said people created a piece of art in each workshop, which was finished to take home and hang on a wall.

“[Sandy] is very good at giving the steps so that you can do it well,” Heather said.

“Sandy is quite happy to come back any time.”

There were both minimum and maximum numbers able to take part in each class, to ensure everybody got the instruction they needed.

Sandy has won many awards, including claiming the overall prize at the Kimba Art Prize twice consecutively.

Workshop26 can be found on Kimba’s main street, where a former machinery dealership and garage has been converted to a creative studio and retail space by local women, operating separate micro-businesses out of refurbished shipping containers.
