More than 100 Christians from different regions of Eyre Peninsula attended a morning worship service – followed by the mission workshop – at Cleve on Sunday, June 16.

In addition to Lutherans from the Cleve and other parishes, another 70 interested people from other denominations also participated.

Lutheran Church Australia SA/NT assistant bishop for mission Pastor Stephen Schultz and cross cultural ministry facilitator Craig Heidenreich spoke on the challenge to be missional in the 21st century.

The theme ‘Prepared to Go’ was the focus of the service, with Luke 10:1-9 the key text from the Bible.

The workshop drew attention to pertinent figures the last census produced regarding Australians’ attitude towards the church as a whole and how they felt about different aspects of what churches meant in their own lives.

Participants at the workshop gave suggestions on how Christians could support their local communities in a loving, helpful and inviting way.
