Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon which occurs when a full moon rises over sea, and is strongly promoted by Tourism Western Australia as a drawcard to Broome and several spots near both Port Headland and Karratha.

In those places hundreds of people flock to watch the Staircase to the Moon happen on the two or three days a month between March and October each year, gathering on beaches or specially constructed viewing platforms.
