The community watched as artist Nicky Create painted on mural during Workshop26’s Christmas market on Saturday 22 November.

Workshop26’s Lisa Lock said Nicky transformed a black wall at the side of Workshop26 into a new tourist attraction in Kimba.

“Bringing people off of the highway and into the main street to support local businesses has always been our goal at Workshop26,” Lisa said.

“This project seeks to bring big lappers and van lifers right into Kimba’s main street for an unmissable selfie shot – and to discover a little more of what our town has to offer while they’re here.”

She said there were iconic spots around the country and across Eyre Peninsula where people could not help but stop, snap and share.

“Think Nullarbor Roadhouse, Talia Caves, Greenly Pool, the Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta, the King Waves Kill sign near Quobba, pink lakes in SA and WA – and we hope now also here in the main street of Kimba,” Lisa said.

“Local school kids and Christmas marketgoers picked up paintbrushes to help get the job done, and lots of selfies have already been snapped in front of this bold new wall.

“We are very grateful for the support of District Council of Kimba and Alliance Resources, plus JAB Building and Kimba Gateway Hotel, and also the dedication of our amazing team of volunteers at Workshop26, to bring this piece to life.”

Lisa said Christmas mini-shoots by Bec Smart Photography, kids cupcake decorating workshops by Wildflour Bar and Dessert, live music by Gemma Leonard, beauty treatments by Tenille Zwar, cooking demos, food by Santis, Gone West and Little Coffee Pot and more, meant there really was something for everyone.
