Dale Murphy won the open speed shearing at the 2025 Kimba Show – after also winning the event in 2024.
Murphy won the open final in an incredible time of 27.71 seconds – well under the 31.72 seconds he recorded in his first open heat for the event.
The time also meant Murphy was two seconds faster than his nearest rival in the open final, as Jaiden Nottle finished in 29.92 seconds.
Third was Mitchell Yates in 30.25 seconds and fourth went to New Zealand shearer Jamie Flett in 30.85 seconds.
Each shearer was timed in two separate heats to decide the four finalists in each category, but only had one attempt to set a fast time in the final.
Flett also competed in the intermediate speed shear competition, winning that final in a time of 29.46 seconds.
Second in the intermediate section was Welsh shearer Jamie Farmer in 31.6 seconds; third placed Ray Boehm recorded 44.55 seconds; and fourth Jackson Lockett took 57.73 seconds.
Nick Pengelley won the novice speed shear in a time of 63.71 seconds, while Nicole Vandenbroek was second in 101.13 seconds.
A novelty team event was held after the speed shearing with the first member of the relay team having to eat a frozen meat pit, another sculling a can of beer and the third shearing one sheep.
