Hotel hosts fun P day

The hum of lots of voices, interspersed with happy laughter, issued from a room in the Port Neill Hotel where easels were set up on tables for 21 people to try their hand at painting.

Armed with a glass of pina colada, everyone chose a painting, collected the essentials and set out to put their copy on the canvas.

Dame Edna Ettridge (Christine Charlton) made a grand entrance and was introduced by Helen Gordon, who explained this important person would provide the music for the occasion.

During the afternoon there was a ready supply of pastries, savouries and cakes, as well as drinks, to add to the enjoyment and hilarity while the music provided a calming atmosphere when it was needed.

At the conclusion, Helen thanked Christine for her part in making the day successful and Christine urged all to take a gift from her contribution of lots of little articles beginning with P – in keeping with the afternoon of pina colada, Picasso and piano.

Thanks go to Helen and David Gordon and their ability to organise special occasions – all in attendance had a great day and felt they are lucky to have interesting activities, a hotel which is a hive of industry and a great asset to the town.
