Livestock SA has created a new Livestock Advisory Committee and is calling for nominations from producers and industry professionals.
The committee will be made up of up to 11 members, including three cattle producers, three sheep producers, and one goat producer, supply chain representative, technical expert in animal health or livestock production, Southern Australia Livestock Research Council representative and independent chairperson.
Creating this committee was a structural reform Livestock SA members endorsed last year to “realise a properly governed, more transparent and accountable organisation”.
Livestock SA chairperson Gillian Fennell said producers and industry professionals who wanted to support the state’s red meat and wool industries were encouraged to join the skills-based committee.
“The committee will provide insights on livestock industry issues and make recommendations on the allocation of the Cattle and Sheep Industry Funds,” she said.
“It will also monitor the SA Red Meat and Wool Blueprint 2030, assess funded project outcomes, and recommend policy and program responses to industry challenges and opportunities.”
Nominations close at 9am on Monday, February 17 and a selection panel will assess the applications.
The new committee’s first meeting is slated for Wednesday, April 23.
