New group officers chosen at meeting

New leaders were selected as the Far Western Group of the South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) held its annual general meeting in the Ceduna Anglican Church hall on Thursday, August 8.

President Kath Dunn welcomed two Streaky Bay members and six Ceduna members, in addition to a special welcome to SACWA state property officer Rebecca Maund.

There were apologies from eight members across the two branches.

After the creed was recited, members who had passed in the last year – Pru Cook, Alice Montgomerie and Mary Fox – were remembered.

Reports from officers were presented, before positions were declared vacant and nominations welcomed.

As per an agreement that has been in place for some years, it was the turn of the Streaky branch to take over for the next two years.

Helen Herbert was named the new group president, while Susan Bignell was named treasurer.

Claire Collins was named the new handicraft officer and Fay Kelsh the new floricultural officer.

Alison Goddard is the new secretary.

Kath congratulated all incoming officers and thanked the Ceduna office bearers for the last two years.

Annette Moyse presented Rebecca with a gift basket from the group.

All in attendance had enjoyed lunch before the meeting and the day closed with afternoon tea.
