Lock Get Up and Goers began learning about what some of the district’s businesses do earlier this month.
They visited Lock Agricultural Services and Lock Recycling on Monday, May 6 – learning from the business owners about what they do.
However, they also had the opportunity to see areas which many had not been in for many years, if at all.
Lock Agricultural Services’ building had previously been Elder Smith then Elder Smith Goldsbrough Mort after a merger in 1962.
Business owner Karen Hurrell told those attending about their business and what it did.
Get Up and Goers’ Anne Siviour said people enjoyed reliving memories of the building in former days.
“It was well worth the visit. It was amazing to see some of the products they had on the shelf on pallets in the racks and outside,” Anne said.
They enjoyed a chat and cuppa at Lock Recycling with owners Rob and Celese Koch talking about their new business and showing the group through.
“The differences within recycling explained, and it was wonderful to see not only them, but also the glass crusher in action,” Anne said.
“Rob is certainly handy building not only the motorised glass crusher but the sorting table.
“How blessed are we to have both of these businesses in our town.”
She said the group was grateful to CropSmart, Lock, which supported the club with its Community Matters sponsorship program.
Some community members also donated cans for collection and recycling to support their activities.
“We truly appreciate this support for the Get Up and Goers program.”
