Another SALT Festival is done and dusted, having provided plenty of enjoyment for people of all ages.

The event ran from April 19 to April 28, with the festival’s message of ‘anything is possible’ displayed throughout the 10 days.

SALT Festival coordinator Nic Conway said the event was absolutely incredible and exceeded his expectations.

“You always hope for the best, but this year it really felt like the community really rallied around the festival,” he said.

“Last year was a big festival when we sold 4400 tickets, but this year we smashed that by an extra 1000, as there were about 5350 through the registration this year.”

Mr Conway said it was nice to capture the full scope of community members of all ages, with multiple free events and the festival coinciding with the school holidays to allow children and their families something to do.

While there were various events and activities that captured the attention of audiences, Mr Conway said Cardboard City was a well-received event.

“It was a free event run by Belili Cowley and volunteers and it kind of captured what SALT Festival is about and that anything is possible,” he said.

“The success of it was only because so many people got involved and overall there were so many wonderful shows throughout the festival.”

After the success of this year’s festival Mr Conway said organisers would constantly look at what the community responded to and wanted more of in the future.

“The family-friendly events were massive and they’ll be here to stay and also the local inclusions to the program were so popular and all their shows were huge and that’s certainly something we look for,” he said.

After the success of the festival Mr Conway thanked the artists, volunteers, sponsors and all the people that attended a festival event or activity.

“We’re already excited for next year,” he said.
