Grant buys valuable training tool

Kimba ambulance volunteers can train on a mannequin with different heart rhythms, thanks to a Australian Radioactive Waste Agency grant.

SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) bought the Shocklink System which can be linked via bluetooth to its training mannequin.

Kimba volunteer team leader Muffy Inglis said members were “incredibly grateful” to receive the grant in December, which allowed them to buy the “fantastic device for trainings”.

“We have had some trainings with the device and look forward to many more gaining a lot of experience,” Muffy said.

“This will also help us immensely out in the field.”

She said the Kimba volunteers thanked the agency for its sponsorship and Kimba Community Development Group for assisting with the grant.

“As always, Kimba SAAS are looking for volunteers to join us,” Muffy said.

Anyone interested should contact regional team leader David Coombe on 0428 713 033 or volunteer team leader Muffy on 0427 292 416.

Alternatively, head along to a training on a Monday night at 6pm for a chat and see what is involved in becoming an ambulance volunteer.
